C.A.R.E. Collective, formerly know as tiny rain bows, began as a duo -my partner Jackson, and myself (mia, click here to learn about me). we began teaching workshops on embroidery, bookbinding, and stamp making. we painted a mural together. then we went on a hiatus beginning in 2020... then hosted a few workshops in 2022, but i was feeling tired and sad. after taking some time off, i sat down and brainstormed about what i really wanted tiny rain bows to be.
i had made amazing connections through hosting workshops, events, and virtual workshops, to boot. i made friends, learned new skills, and even connected people to resources they needed. so, now that i have some built up some knowledge and have the capacity to organize, what do i do now?
in a time in which we all need more care, community, and connection to our basic needs... i can't just host workshops anymore. what we need, it's much bigger than that. i am working now to compile resources into a living forum where everyone can contribute. i want to distribute leaflets directly and indirectly, sharing the stories of people that need assistance, and issues that need to be widespread. i want to contribute to free kitchens, volunteer, and encourage others to do the same, even just for a few hours a week.
so, i decided to "rebrand" tiny rain bows. i eventually landed on C.A.R.E. Collective, which stands for Cooperative Art, Resources, and Education. i have a passion for knowledge building, resource sharing, and collective creativity. i wanted to create a collective that embodied these values for myself and the community. if you would like to join us, click here to express interest in volunteering.
